What’s in the Box
108 SUPER TRASH! Cards
80 number cards
8 “Trash” cards - The well-named “Trash” cards have no value and drawing this card has no benefit to the player. Simply discard it and the turn ends.
20 “Action” cards
4 “Compost” cards - Like a “wild” card, place face up replacing any of your 10 card positions. Move the replaced card to another position, if possible, or discard it.
4 “Recycle” cards - Swap any one of your 10 cards with one from any opponent. Swapped cards stay face up or face down.
4 “Dumpster” cards - Dive into the top 5 cards of the discard pile and replace one of them with any one of your 10 cards.
4 “Landfill” cards - Dump any opponent card into the discard pile and replace it with the top card of the draw pile face down. Discard both the Landfill card and the card being replaced with the Landfill card on top.
4 “Incinerator” cards - Draw a second card and like a “skip” card, the next player’s turn goes up in smoke.
Set-up
Shuffle the deck of SUPER TRASH! cards.
Deal 10 cards to each player face down. Players can not look at the cards.
Each player places their 10 cards face down in front of them (2 rows of 5 works best). The top-left position is the “one” position. The remaining card positions are in order sequentially from left to right ending with the “ten” position in the lower-right.
Place remaining cards in a pile face down in the center of the table. This is the draw pile.
Flip the top card of the draw pile over and place next to the draw pile. This will be the discard pile.
The player who took out the trash most recently goes first.
Players take turns clockwise.
How to Win
The first player to have all 10 cards face-up in their proper positions and exclaims “SUPER TRASH!” is the winner.
Early learners version - With all 20 “Action” cards removed from the deck, the first player to have all 10 cards face-up in their proper positions and exclaims “SUPER TRASH!” is the winner.
Advanced version - The first player to have all 10 cards of the same color face-up in their proper positions and exclaims “SUPER TRASH!” is the winner.
Game Play
Each turn begins by drawing a card from either the draw pile or the discard pile, if the top card of the discard pile is a number card and can be used by the player. Each turn ends by placing a card face up in the discard pile.
Number Cards
If the player draws a number card that can be used to reach the game’s objective, it can be placed face-up in the corresponding position replacing the card that is there. For example, a “six” card is drawn and is placed in the lower-left “six” card position. The replaced card is flipped over and if it too can be used, it is placed face-up in its corresponding position and so forth. At any point in the turn, if a number card is not helpful to the player, it is placed in the discard pile and the turn is over.
Action Cards
If the player draws an “Action” card, from either the draw pile or is revealed from among the player’s ten cards, the player may follow the card’s instructions. For example, when a “Recycle” card is drawn, the player swaps any one of their 10 cards with one from any opponent. Swapped cards stay face up or face down. Once the instructions are carried out, the “Action” card is placed in the discard pile and the turn is over. “Compost” cards can move among your 10 positions if a drawn number card can replace it or when using a “Recycle” card.
Notes
If you reach the bottom of the deck, shuffle the discarded cards, turn the pile over face-down and continue play.
Discarded “Action” cards cannot be used. This includes drawing from the discard pile or when using a “Dumpster” card.
Drawn “Compost” cards can replace either a face-up or face-down card among the player’s 10 card positions, whichever gets the player closer to winning.
If there is less than 5 cards in the discard pile when playing the “Dumpster” card, the player can only select from the cards available in the discard pile.
If using an “Action” card doesn't help the player, the player can choose not to use it. In these cases, the “Action” card is discarded and the turn is over.
“Compost” cards can move among your 10 positions if a drawn number card can replace it or when using a “Recycle” card.
